A friendly, well-balanced, caring community known for getting the best from a broad range of abilities.

Founded over 1,000 years ago, the school enjoys an exceptional setting next to Ely Cathedral. Many medieval buildings are in daily use, others new in the last six years include a Technology Centre, library, Art School , all-weather pitch and Music School/Recital hall opened in 2001.

The equivalent of a whole working day a week is devoted to sports, creative and performing arts, and the unique outdoor pursuits programme, the Ely Scheme with climbing expeditions to the Himalayas in 2001 and Corsica in 2004

Team sports, and a range of alternatives including golf are offered. There is a strong rowing tradition. Everyone is encouraged to take up a musical instrument. Five full-time and 20 visiting teachers give 500 individual lessons a week. Orchestras, jazz and wind bands, ensembles of all kinds flourish.
