Trinity School

School Profile

We believe we're a leading school because we blend the best traditional values that derive from our Christian foundation with a forward-looking, modern approach to education. We prepare our pupils for life in a globalised, technological environment but also imbue them with values that will help them live fulfilled lives and contribute positively to the communities in which they will eventually live and work.

Education at Trinity is a shared experience, teacher and pupil working together to bring the best out of each individual. Our philosophy is that happy pupils are successful pupils. We therefore set out to create an environment in which your child is encouraged to explore, to enjoy and to experiment, whilst we support, stimulate and challenge.

Although we are a full ability-range school, most of our pupils go on to university, with about 40% going to top-class 'Russell Group' universities. Over the last three years, we have won four Good Schools Guide Awards for A level performance. To support those with additional educational needs, we have a very effective 'Learning Success' department.

Located in a picturesque town overlooking the sea and with Dartmoor only ten miles away, Trinity provides a safe, healthy environment for your child. With a main-line railway station in town, we are also, however, within easy reach of Exeter and Plymouth and less than three hours from London, making us an easy option for weekly boarding. Our vibrant boarding community, with a mix of UK pupils and international boarders, brings an outward-looking mindset to the School, further broadening the educational experience.

As a relatively small school, our community is close and supportive, but is nevertheless large enough to support many and varied sports, clubs and activities. We have pupils competing in national-level sports competitions, with over a dozen having reached national finals this year. As well as a swimming pool, pitches for rugby, netball, football and hockey, the school has a Tennis Academy, complete with indoor court.

Music is a passion for many, with the full range of styles on show, from classical to jazz to R and B. Drama is strong at all levels and both dramatists and musicians perform regularly in the local community. Our cadet force is well known for its quality, with many camps and expeditions, ship visits and flying courses notched up every year. D of E, Ten Tors and regular weekend trips for boarders see pupils enjoying the great outdoors.

Community involvement is a vital part of school life, pupils helping in local care homes, charities and schools, with some helping to man the town's RNLI surf-lifesaving team.

You can look at this profile, inspection reports and our website to get an outline idea of what makes Trinity unique. To really appreciate us, however, please come and visit. When you meet the confident, assured, yet considerate children that we are proud to have as pupils, then you will really appreciate why so many consider us to be a 'leading school.'
