School Profile
Uppingham School has approximately 770 13-18 year-old boys and girls, and is famous for its magnificent facilities, academic and musical excellence, and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
It is a boarding school, where the pupils live in 15 Boarding Houses; nine for boys (aged 13-18), four for girls (aged 13-18) and two for girls (aged 16-18). Pupils eat all their meals in their Houses. The Housemasters and Housemistresses who run the Houses look after what is in very real terms an extended family. In addition, each boy and girl is also pastorally served by a tutor, and all members of staff are attached to one of the Houses. The pastoral aspect of life at Uppingham is taken very seriously. There is a fully equipped Sanatorium, operated 24 hours per day during term-time by registered nurses.
